Landscapes - Plein Air

Painted predominantly in the period between 1984-95, Landscapes (Plein Air) focuses on locations within Central Australia, New South Wales and the Timna Desert in Israel. Alternating between watercolour on paper and oil on canvas, Micha uses a mixture of muted greens, blues, oranges and greys to draw out a similar sense of lightness from these seemingly disparate locations.

Depicted in delicate brush strokes, it is not difficult to feel the warmth radiating from the sunburnt rock resting deep in the Australian outback, or imagine a light breeze as it drifts along the empty sand of the Israeli desert and through the branches of the acacia tree. Imbuing each scene with a gentle feeling of expansiveness, Micha implies a closeness between these places, despite their physical separation.
