Landscapes of the Mind

Alternating between oil and water pastel on both canvas and board, Landscapes of the Mind traverses surreal, dreamlike and speculative spaces. Paddington Town Hall is lifted into the air by the centrifugal force of swinging cockatoos; immense spiders build their webs around a scaffolding-enclosed tower as a concerned child looks on from the corner; warm, orange anthropomorphic creatures land on the inquisitive features of a giant blue face. This set of paintings resides at the gateway between the real and the imaginary, tracing the elusive boundaries of these spaces of the mind. They do not attempt to offer any explanation, but rather revel in pure phantasmagorical pleasure.
